🐾 Aries Pet Paradise — Liability, Safety & Veterinary Care Policy

At Aries Pet Paradise, your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priority. Grooming involves tools, water, dryers, and working closely with pets who may behave unpredictably. This policy protects both your pet and my business.

💛 Pet Health & Owner Responsibility

By booking an appointment, you confirm that:

  • Your pet is healthy enough for grooming

  • You have disclosed any health issues, such as seizures, heart conditions, allergies, infections, or anxiety

  • You have disclosed any behavior concerns (biting, fear, aggression, sensitivity, etc.)

  • Your pet is up to date on rabies vaccination per Texas law

  • Your pet does not show signs of contagious illness (vomiting, coughing, diarrhea, fleas, etc.)

If your pet arrives with illness or unsafe behavior, I may refuse or stop service for safety.

✂️ Matted Coat Release

Matted fur is painful and dangerous for pets. Mats may hide:

  • Skin irritation

  • Bruising

  • Sores or wounds

  • Fleas/ticks

  • Bacterial or yeast infections

Mats may require shaving very close to the skin, increasing the risk of:

  • Nicks or cuts

  • Redness or irritation

  • Exposed pre-existing skin issues

  • Behavioral stress

  • Uneven coat growth

Aries Pet Paradise is not responsible for injuries or after-effects caused by matting, neglected coat care, or conditions hidden under the coat.

Extra matting fees may apply.

🐶 Behavior & Safety

Your pet’s behavior impacts what services can safely be performed.

If your pet shows:

  • Excessive anxiety

  • Aggression

  • Snapping or biting

  • Extreme movement

  • Repeated attempts to escape

I may:

  • Stop the groom

  • Modify the groom

  • Use safety tools

  • Charge a handling fee

  • Refuse future services

Refunds are not issued for pets that cannot be groomed safely.

Owners are legally responsible for any injuries or damages caused by their pet, including bites.

💨 Drying & Heat Safety

  • I do not use heated cage dryers.

  • High Velocity dryers are used safely .

  • Some pets may become anxious or overstimulated.

If your pet cannot tolerate drying, I may adjust or shorten the service.

❤️ Senior Pets, Special-Needs Pets & High-Risk Breeds

Older pets, short-nosed breeds, puppies, anxious pets, and pets with medical issues are at higher grooming risk.

Grooming may be:

  • Shortened

  • Adjusted

  • Stopped early

  • Modified for safety

Aries Pet Paradise is not liable for grooming reactions caused by age, health, or pre-existing conditions.

✂️ Accidental Injury & Veterinary Care Policy

I groom every pet with care, patience, and professionalism. However, grooming carries natural risks.

This section explains clearly who pays for what if an injury occurs.

1. If the Groomer Is at Fault

If an injury happens due to my mistake, including:

  • A clipper cut

  • A scissor nick

  • Groomer-caused razor burn

  • Any injury directly caused by my handling or technique

👉 I will take responsibility and cover the veterinary bill.

I will either:

  • Pay the vet directly
    or

  • Reimburse you for the vet visit related to that specific injury

This shows accountability and fairness.

2. If the Pet’s Behavior or Condition Causes the Injury

The owner is responsible for vet bills if the injury happens because of:

  • Sudden movement

  • Jerking, pulling, jumping

  • Aggression or biting attempts

  • Anxiety, spinning, shaking

  • Pre-existing skin issues

  • Hidden infections or wounds under the coat

  • Matted fur requiring shave-down

  • Owner not disclosing medical conditions

  • Old age or thin, fragile skin

  • Ear shaking causing hematomas

  • Extreme sensitivity to drying or brushing

👉 If the injury is caused by the pet’s behavior or condition, the owner pays all veterinary costs.

This protects you from being blamed for something not your fault.

3. If the Cause Is Unclear

If it cannot be determined whether the groomer or pet caused the injury:

I will assess fairly and decide whether:

  • I pay

  • You pay

  • Or we share responsibility

Fairness and transparency will always guide the decision.

4. What Happens If an Injury Occurs

If any injury happens during grooming:

  1. I will stop immediately

  2. I will clean and assess the area

  3. I will notify you right away if serious, or at pickup if minor

  4. If vet care is recommended, I will advise you

  5. If you cannot be reached and it appears urgent, I may take your pet to the nearest available veterinarian

  6. You will receive documentation/photos if needed

🚨 Emergency Situations

If your pet experiences a medical episode (collapse, seizure, difficulty breathing, etc.):

  • I will provide basic first aid

  • I will contact you or your emergency contact

  • If necessary, I will transport your pet to the nearest veterinarian

Owners are responsible for veterinary costs unless the emergency was directly caused by groomer error.

📸 Photo & Video Consent

Photos and videos may be used for:

  • Safety documentation

  • Before/after visuals

  • Social media or marketing

If you prefer no posting, please let me know.
Safety photos may still be taken for internal documentation when needed.

📍 Liability Release Agreement

By booking with Aries Pet Paradise, you:

  • Agree to all grooming, safety, liability, and vet care terms

  • Understand grooming carries natural risks

  • Release Aries Pet Paradise from liability for issues arising from the pet’s health, coat condition, or behavior

  • Understand that groomer liability applies only when injury is caused by groomer error

  • Acknowledge that all other veterinary costs are the owner’s responsibility

  • Agree that liability, if found, is limited to the grooming fee or related vet bill (depending on who is at fault), and does not extend beyond that appointment
